During the SSC VP's weekly fireside chat, Justin Robinson and Nick Rellas shared their experience of developing Drizly.
The two reflected on the aspects of their entrepreneurial journey that are sometimes overlooked, but held key roles in getting Drizly to where it is today.
For Drizly, learning the industry was key.
Both Robinson and Rellas knew everything there was to know about the alcohol industry. How did they do this? By working in a package store. This taught them about the selling and purchasing of alcohol, allowing them to understand what product they wanted to create and who they were creating it for.
Additionally, their naivety was a gift.
"We were naively happy...It was almost romantic."
The co-founders reflected on their naivety upon starting Drizly and how it was a good thing for them. They included that this naivety protected them from becoming discouraged by the continued difficult times and the ups and downs. They didn't know how hard it would be to create and develop a company when they first began, and although they do not regret it one bit, it was best that they figured it out as they went than know "how big the mountain was when they were climbing the mountain."
The SSC VP had a great time visiting the Drizzly office and learning more about the founding of Drizly!
